Direct Current Potential Drop (DCPD) testing is a widely accepted method for measuring crack growth or conducting crack initiation testing by applying electrical current to a specimen and measuring electric potential across the crack plane. Test specimens and fixturing utilize pull-through rod systems allowing use in Autoclaves, Tempressure Vessels, or Ambient Condition Test Chambers to simulate corrosive field conditions in High Temperature High Pressure (HPHT) environments. DCPD Systems are often paired with supporting equipment such as HPHT Circulating Flow Loops or Hydrogen Test Enclosures.
DCPD Equipment is an addition integrated into our Load Frame Systems. Electrically isolated fixturing isolates test specimens to prevent interference in measurements while the wires are passed through isolated fittings that maintain high pressure, high temperature seals. The drive system is capable of performing cyclic testing at extension rates up to 3.5 mm/sec and fatigue frequencies. Each testing system has a built-in data acquisition system with an intuitive setup interface to easily prepare and monitor any test.
