In-Situ Direct Displacement Measurement is a displacement technique where the measurement point is directly on the specimen and displacement is translated mechanically to LVDT outside the pressure boundary of the Autoclaves. In high temperature, high pressure, corrosive, and/or explosive environments, COD gauges and extensometers often fail. Displacement gauges that are rated for extreme environment are large and require a larger Autoclave, increasing costs. External displacement measurements using reference points external to the Autoclave result in inaccuracies due to load compliance.
Cortest's LVDT Direct Displacement Measurement assemblies provide accurate, safe displacement measurements. An innovative technique of LVDT coil outside the pressure boundary and LVDT core inside the pressure boundary eliminate the chance for spark inside the Autoclave. 316 Stainless Steel and A-286 components allow for testing in corrosive and hydrogen environments. Various configurations are available for Compact Tension (CT) Specimens, Round Tensile Specimens, Flat Tensile Specimens, & Single Edge Notch Tension (SENT) Specimens. LVDT Direct Displacement Measurement Assemblies are used in various mechanical tests on CERT/SSRT Load Frames and are often paired with Hydrogen Test Enclosures.
